Tropicana: Traveling in Style

Pepe le Pom wanted to come along on our tropical getaway.

Sunset catamaran rides are a must.

Thanks for taking a peek into my tropical getaway.  I spared you loads of karaoke pics, but some memories are all my own.  Hope you all are having a stylish and sunny summer!

Belting 101

We've noticed lately that lots of ladies are having issues with proper belting.  Proportions of clothing may seem subtle and insignificant, but something as simple as a misplaced belt can throw off an entire silhouette, rendering an otherwise attractive look distracting and unflattering.  Belting on top of the ribcage shortens your torso and looks like some sort of awkward bust sling.  A belt should sit at your natural waist, just under your rib cage to highlight the smallest part of the body and create the illusion of an hourglass figure.  As a general rule, one should cut the body into thirds at the waist and the knees - even if the cut is only implied by tailoring or by adding heels.
Have a beautiful day, fashion lovers!

Look We Love: Transitional Trends

At A20, we treat trends as a source of cultural inspiration.  By following some of the most talented designers around today and the companies whose exhaustive research serves to predict and dictate trends, we are able to curate a collection of designers whose body of work is luxurious and original.  Many unknown, low-end designers are such for a reason: inexperience, low quality fabrics, unethical production practices, knock-off "designs"....  That said, know your designers.  Understand why collections are priced as they are.  Educate yourself on what is culturally relevant in the world, not just what feels relevant in our small corner of the planet.  While A20 has a local clientele whom we adore, nothing makes us feel better than customers from other cities and countries who "get it."  By "it" we mean US.  Augusta Twenty.  Our bubble of carefully edited collections, fits, colors, looks...music, confidence, joy.  It's not always an easy stance to take in a small town in the south.  That's okay, we wear it as a badge of pride.

The following are a few of our favorite internationally relevant, transitional trends which feel very of-the-moment, but will not be outdated in seasons to come:

All these and so much more available in-store now.  We'll keep you in the loop with new fall trends as they arrive this summer.  Follow us on the social media platform of your choice for up-to-the-minute inspirations and happenings.  Have a beautiful day.

Quote of the Day

Ever start the day off as a Pollyanna...

...and end the day feeling like Nene Leakes?

Happens to the best of us.

Look We Love: Met Gala 2014 Edition

2014's Charles James-themed Met Gala was a less-than-thrilling motif for the famed event.  Fresh off the heels of awards season, we've had our fill of the beautiful gowns that fit with this year's glamorous couture dress code.  Unsolicited opinions aside, here are some sartorial stand-outs from fashions biggest affair.

Lauren Santo Domingo always manages to be event-appropriate and fashion forward.  Kudos on this striking Oscar de la Renta selection.

Taylor Swift stole our hearts with her unabashedly girlish Oscar de la Renta confection.  This ballet pink gown photographs beautifully from every angle.

Who better to wear this exquisite dress straight off the Marchesa runway than legendary supermodel Karolina Kurkova?

Anne Hathaway took the standout minimalist award in Calvin Klein Collection.  The color and tailoring of this two-piece ensemble are stunning.

Our best-dressed runner-up would have to go to supermodel/it-girl Cara Delevigne in Stella McCartney.  The styling is perfection and every detail is right on-trend and age-appropriate.

Beyonce takes the best-dressed title for the evening in her head-turning Givenchy look.  This ensemble suits her trademark style while embodying the spirit of the Met Gala - avant garde high fashion.

Who were your favorites from the evening?  What would you have worn?
